This Blog is about instructional design. That each person is sharing on Instructional design. This post has several posts have a wide range of subjects on ISD.
This blog concentrates on the defining of learning. It first describes learning as a product and a process. It then explains the different theories to learning to include: Behaviourism, Cognitivism and then the Humanist. The post then list further reading on the subjects.
The network that I chose was one that we as students use at Walden. The Network has helped me out tremendously. It has provided me with the necessary tools needed to complete my course work and to learn from. The four prominent ones’ were the parent nodes in the Mind Mapping project. The way they changed the way I learned was by giving me the knowledge and the know how to become a better Instructional Systems Designer. Each of the four helped me in the different areas of course work. When I see the network that I used for the Mind Mapping exercise, it helps me organize my thinking.
ReplyDeleteThe digital tool that works best to facilitate my learning has got to be Classblogmeist. This digital tool helped me to understand blogs and blogging. This has opened a new world for me. Before I use to just use e-mail now its blogs and Facebook. The old saying is you can’t teach old dogs new tricks, is not true when it comes to learning how to blog. Not only the blogs, but also the RSS feeds, what better way to get a lot more info on Instructional Design.
How do I gain new knowledge when I ask questions? It’s simple I go to my blogs and ask. I also use the network that has numerous resources to ask. I ask my pears on Face Book. I also e-mail. There are a lot of sources to choose from these days.
My network supports the tenets of connectivism by keeping up with my blog and when I research data. That knowledge is being distributed across networks of human beings and other media platforms. The network recognizes the technologically being used is incredibly rich now and continues on a very fast pace growth, which includes the mobile phone, computer, accessing databases and last but not least a significant explosion in how we start to connect with other people.
In the first weeks discussion I talked about being an Instructional Systems Designer. That I have built numerous courses using conventional and nonconventional ways. These ways included the understanding of the learning process as defined by the Air Force. This as I now look back was a very narrow minded in that it was the only learning styles I had to go off of. In other words we were very limited in the learning process. These limitations consisted of only two Learning Theories.
ReplyDeleteI now know that there is much more ways to learn. Constructivism, Social Learning, multiple Intelligence. My view has definitely changed from learning as very limited to the vastness of it. That learning is an ongoing process and it is not caned. It is very ongoing and such as social and has Multiple intelligence for many learners.
I also know that we must challenge ourselves not to be stagnate in that our designing of courses, and we must pursue higher learning levels.
The learning Theories are very import in that there must be two or more of the theories operation at any given time. These theories are also connected to the individual learner not just the course it,s self. We first and foremost must keep our customers first in the designing of the courses. Let’s face the facts the courses are for them not us. Technology has a big impact in the way I will design courses. I now have a better insight on how to search for information ; such as blog’s, Library data bases and other web based product.
The RSS feeds I believe will be one of the most valuable assets needed to help designers to gain a lot of information without having to research all the info. I other words it will cut down on the time needed to design and build a course.
